A evening in the water

Just had to share a fun moment this evening with you all. My very large halter horse loves to get up against the stall fence and "beg" my 17 yr old daughter, Crystal, to crawl up on her back. So tonight, Crystal obliges even though I had just got done hosing Missy down with the hose. So Missy and Crystal are walking around the stall and I squirt the hose at Missy and she chooses to come closer to the hose to get Crystal wet. Well, Missy would walk closer to me and lean on the fence as I was hosing her and Crystal done. I swear you could see it in that mare's face how much she was enjoying listening to Crystal whine and cry about how wet she was.

Well that's all for now.

Well Jessie here it is....

Here's my first blog entry thanks to my Cuz Jessie. I actually started this a few weeks ago, but didn't post anything as I had no idea where to start. Jessie hooked me up with the perfect way to start using the following:

The rules are that you've gotta tell 10 things to your readers that they don't know. Well that should be easy:

1. I work as a Phlebotomist (a vampire) taking blood throughout the day for patients.

2. I have a horrible sleep disorder, getting only 2 or 3 hours of sleep daily.

3. With the same 5 yr old horse, I have won 4 Buckles, 2 Bronze statues, a wall plaque, & multiple halters all before she reached her 3 yr old year.

4. I believe there are no "throw away" horses. Each and every horse I've ever come in contact with has crossed my path for a reason, to teach me something I didn't know. Out of the 7 head of horses in my herd, 5 are "throw aways" due to some "horrible habit" they have had and now each of them can be handled by any child that comes into the barn.

5. I trained professionally for quite awhile. After realizing I was no longer having fun in the ring, I dropped the clients I had, and started to train for myself. I couldn't be happier for this change in my life and am back to loving the show circuit and my horses, not to mention the realization that my horses and I are better than even I had thought.

6. That I have competed against Jessie's friend Darlene's horse "Almighty" when he was only a yearling. We were at a big 5 day show in Sacramento when I first met "Almighty" and I know first hand what that big boy looks like in all his glory. I think I may have to book my "Excelebration" granddaughter to him. :)

7. My hubby and I have been together for 22 years, meeting when I was a junior in high school and marrying 4 yrs later.

8. While I still enjoy my big horses, my miniature horses are the current hottest thing in my day to day activities. They bring more joy to more people and go into places I never thought of going. So far we've been to the mall, into senior homes, and to the hospital I work at. Ever see a 95 yr old ex endurance rider cry? I have after meeting him with my 28 inch high stallion and being told he had not seen a live horse in 22 yrs.

9. I believe the greatest gift of having horses is to be able to share it with a troubled child and have them begin to believe in themselves what can be their own future.

10. That I taught myself how to pull my current horsetrailer, and I myself am the only one legal in my household to pull it.

Well, there you have it, my first post. I will finish this post with a couple of photos of what I think are the two best kids in my life at the moment along with their current show horses. The first is my 17 yr old daughter Crystal and her horse "Good Dee Version" a Good Version son and the other is my 7 yr old Niece, Nancy with my 5 yr old halter mare "Ms Obvious Leaguer". Enjoy the day!
